Ted's Woodworking

Ted points out

Ted, says that you can build anything out of wood without an expensive workshop or tools. He’s offering 16,000 highly detailed woodworking project plans, a collection he claims is the largest in the world. You won’t have to wing it in anything, and the plans are much better than the ones you’ll find online that assume you already know a fair bit.

Ted points out that most plans and magazines assume too much about your knowledge, have missing steps, pictures that don’t line up with the instructions, and assume you have an extensive and expensive range of tools.

Ted the beginner

Ted says he was a beginner 20 years ago, and for a long time now he has been putting together a collection he says is unlike anything anybody has seen before. He seems very passionate.

I can envisage many turning this opportunity into a good honest profitable business venture, from the database Ted has built over the years.

Ted says he was inspired by his grandfather who built a large house out in the boondocks and everything in it.

Grandpa was Ted’s inspiration

He quickly learned that he didn’t have the same woodworking gift his grandfather did so he really had to work hard to make progress. He decided to go back to school. He never gave up on his vision of becoming a good woodworker/carpenter

What makes a good teacher?

I know from experience teaching English as a foreign language in Tokyo that there are three kinds of teachers. I worked for the largest franchise in Japan and met many young teachers during my eight-year stint.

  • There are the teachers who had a natural gift and took to it like a duck to water.
  • There were the teachers like my self who initially had to work very hard to first overcome their fear and then develop teaching style and skills.
  • And then there were those who never made any progress and either quit, got fired, or didn’t have their contracts renewed at the end of 12 months.

The group that made the best teacher trainers – 98% began with no training or experience – were the ones that struggled initially like me.

Those with the gift were either unable or unwilling to pass on their knowledge.

I was bodyboarding once when one lad came up off the lip and did a forward summersault in the air. When I asked him how he did,  he thought for a while and said “I dunno, I can’t really explain”.

I went on to write an English language teaching course back in Australia. Then I went on to present it; it was very well received.

I can identify with how Ted developed as a carpenter and then a woodworking instructor.

Woodshop Class

Ted decided to enroll in “Woodshop class”. He eventually teamed up with one of his instructors to begin building the database they are offering to you.

What you get

Each plan comes with a list of materials, tools, and clever tips.

Personally I liked the 3-dimensional plans, They remind me of my model airplane building days.

Ted's Woodworking

Conclusion

As someone who did woodwork at school, and then went on to become an electrician. I have a solid trade background and I am very familiar with the satisfaction that comes with doing clever things with your hands.

Ted’s Woodworking is a bridge to woodworking trade skills for people who never had any formal woodwork training. Just think of it: 16,000 project plans. The possibilities are endless.

In the video, I think I remember something about starting your own business of making things to sell. An excellent idea I thought.

Give it a try; you’ve got 60 days to get your money back.

Garry.

If you would like to say something in the comment section below, go for it. Have you ever made something out of wood? Do you still have it and use it; like a coffee table, some speakers for your sound system, or a bookcase? I made all of these things.

  1. Thank you so much for sharing with us an interesting and excellent article. The principal content of this article is Woodworking from beginner to expert. It is really pretty that you have demonstrated this topic so well in your article. I have learned a lot by reading your article and gained a lot of cognition about it. Of the points mentioned in your article, I like What makes a good teacher. I am no exception to the fact that any carving made of wood will look good. And to make these wooden items you must learn from a skilled craftsman who can learn from the beginning to the end.

Finally, I have read and enjoyed your article so I would like to share the subject of the article in my social media group so that everyone can know about woodwork and learn it well.

    1. That’s excellent Asraful.

Your feedback is very much appreciated. Good comments on woodworking learning.

All the best for your woodworking future.

      Garry.

  2. Such a great guide you have provided here highlighting the basics of actually engaging in woodworking and how to ensure success with it in a long term. Like earlier said on your site, I have a strong desire to understand and engage in woodworking because of the fact my father was a woodworker too. So, seeing this here, I could really resonate well with it. Thanks

    1. Thank you, Kimberly, you are so kind.

Your father must be one of the good guys.

I wish you all the best in your woodworking endeavors.

      Garry.
